Stalk It™ is excited to announce the sponsorship of Junior Surfer, Aloha Lopez. Lopez, is a 14 year old competitive surfer from the Hawaiian island of Maui. She loves the ocean and all water sports. Her home break in the winter is Honolua Bay on Maui and in the summer Playa Bonfil in Mexico. She started surfing when she was four years old and has been competing when she was ten years old. She competes on shortboards, longboards and stand up paddle boards. Last year, she competed in her first international contest in Puerto Escondido, Mexico where she place 2nd in the women's shortboard division. Her sponsors include Stalk It, Pakaloha Bikinis, Sol Raiz Organics and Local Boyz.

My first qualifying run gave me the 2^nd fastest time.  The next day the top ten qualifiers would take another timed run in an event called the “top ten shootout.”  The winner of that would be the rider with the fastest time.  After all the riders had finished their runs, I was the rider with the fastest time and deemed the top ten shootout winner.

Race day.  After a few hours of racing I found myself lined up in the semi-finals with Kyle Martin, Micah Green, and Kevin Reimer.  My plan was to stick behind and draft but things didn’t work out and I crossed the line in 3^rd.  This dropped me into the consolation final where riders would compete for 5^th-8^th. I pushed out front and keep my lead to the finish. I walked away from the race with a 1^st in the top ten shootout and a 5^th in the race. After the race I went back to Sydney and explored the city before I got on my flight back home.

Stalk It™ sponsored NASCAR driver #23 Robert Richardson Jr. represented us in the Aarons 312 race this past weekend at the Talladega Superspeedway. Stalk It™ has recently sponsored up and coming Junior surfer from Maui, Hawaii, Kelson Lau (3rd Generation Surfer)

Stalk It partnered with World Ventures to sponsor NASCAR driver Robert Richardson Jr. in the Drive4COPD 300. It was great weather for a race and it turned out to be an interesting race at that. Richardson Jr finished the race 9th place, which was his first ever top 10 finish of his career. Unfourtunately the race had to finish with a huge crash on the final lap, injuring 28 spectators in the grandstands. However all that were injured were taken care of and are now in stable conditions. Stalk It Racing will be sponsoring Nascar Driver Robert Richardson Jr. in this years Drive4COPD 300, the most prestigious event of the Nationwide Series on Feb. 23 at Daytona Beach, Florida.

Hot off of a successful season on the IGSA circuit, and with some high-powered sponsors behind him, things are looking good for Alex Tongue as he gears up for the inaugural IDF season and another year of traveling around the world with a skateboard. My 2013 season started in Puerto Rico for the Guajataca Downhill Festival.  The small town of Guajataca has hosted this event for the past four years and every year the event grows exponentially in size.  This year when race day came, thousands of spectators lined the course in preparation to watch the top downhill skateboarders compete for 1^st place. Due to an over-abundance of spectators (much more than the venue could reasonably fit), the race had to be postponed.  As unfortunate as that may be, it was an indication of how rapidly the sport is growing and a sneak peek as to what’s in store for the future of the sport.

Over the last few years, downhill skateboarding has grow, and continues to grow exponentially, but this year in particular marks a turning point in the young sports’ life.  A new sanctioning body for the world cup season has taken the place of the IGSA.  The IDF (International Downhill Federation) has taken over the role of organizing and sanctioning the world cup series.  The 2013 world cup series consists of five events in five different countries.  These events have joined the ranks of the world cup series due to their ability to organize and promote the events in a fashion the IDF considers worthy of a “world cup” status.  

As for me, I will be competing in all five world cup events as well as many other independent events across the world.  Between events, I will be spending much of my time producing media and working on other projects in downhill skateboarding to promote my sponsors and the sport of downhill skateboarding.  2013 is going to be a great year!
